Disc detainer locks are found all over the world, mainly as padlocks and bicycle locks. With the Multipick ARES and a little practice, you will be able to open almost any disc detainer lock. Manufactured by Multipick in Bonn, Germany, the ARES is a modular opening system: the basic module can be expanded and reconfigured so you can build exactly the right tool for the lock in front of you.
The ARES is made of high-quality aluminium with an anodised coating and a special steel alloy, as used across Multipick's product range. An integrated sliding sleeve delivers smooth running between the tensioning tool and the setting tool, while clear laser markings on the corresponding components ensure precise orientation during operation. The included handles screw individually into the basic module for extra control - particularly useful with drill recess versions - and swapping components such as the dimple pick, scale, positioning ring, key profile, tensioner and disc setter takes minimal effort.
The included scale suits common Abus graduations of 2.0 mm, helping you find the positions of the individual discs quickly; it can also serve as a reference on other disc detainer locks. Supplied as a complete kit in a plastic case with disc setters, tension disc setters, positioning ring handle, disc driver and hex keys, the ARES is a serious tool for professional locksmiths and dedicated locksport enthusiasts.
